In October, I signed up for a Learn to Run clinic at a local running store with my friend, Sue. We started running 1 minute and then walking 1 min for 20 minutes the first week and thought we would never make it, but by December, we could run 5km without stopping and we did our first race, the NYE Resolution Run. We ran a respectable 32 minutes and 25 seconds and were pretty darn proud ourselves.
Sue is still running but bowed out of more clinics. I, on the other hand, decided if I could run 5km, why not 10km or a half marathon? I mean really, why not!? So I am doing a 10km clinic and running 4 times a week. So last weekend, just because (actually because Sue's husband was running a half marathon and there was a 5k race at the same time), Sue and I ran another race together. We ran fast and smashed our first time coming in under 28 minutes. I was so proud of myself!
Brian and I were planning to run the 10k in Ottawa in the spring but it's FULL (darnitallanyway) so keep we WILL run a race in the spring but which one is still up in the air.
