Well we're 2 weeks in to our new school year and so far:
Teagan is LOVING grade 3. She's got a great attitude. Her English teacher can play the guitar and is reading them the Tale of Desperaux (not the Disney-fied version). Her French teacher is a hip environmentalist. Teagan has even joined the cross country running team!! She practices every day at second break and is up to running more than she walks.. her goal is to run the whole 20 minutes by the day of the cross country meet. I'm impressed.
She's also started back to dance - a ballet exam class and jazz and tap performance classes on Wednesday nights. She's doing regular piano lessons but has decided she wants to play just for fun with her teacher and not work toward her Royal Conservatory exams this year, which is fine with us. Brownies and swimming both start this week too!
Caden had staggered entry to Senior Kindergarten so he FINALLY got to go for his first full day on Friday after 2 weeks of short visits. He's back in the same classroom with the same teacher and many of the same children. There are 2 new boys in his class that he's loving and he's playing with some of his favorite girls from last year.
He started a tap dance class this week and did great! He's doing piano lessons too and just flying through the beginner book. Beavers and swimming start this week for him and hockey starts October 5th.
Duncan HATES preschool. He tells me at least 15 times a day that he's never going back. Oh well... there's got to be one, right? He cries when I drop him off BUT according to the director and his teacher he stops as soon as I leave and plays, eats, and sleeps great. He has not had a single accident either. So we're just rolling with it and hoping it perks up. He'd gotten randomly cranky and fearful about new things sometime in August, before school started, so I'm not really surprised that he's having a hard adjustment but it does make me sad!
I hope he likes swimming lessons - mommy will be in the water with him this session. We had the option of an unparented session for him and we decided against it and given his preschool angst, I'm glad we did!
And how can we forget Brian? He`s LOVING his classes but feeling pretty overwhelmed with work and school commitments. In good news, he`s home for dinner every night now before he settles into his homework!!
