Dance recital weekend is always really fabulous but always comes at our busiest time of year - the last few weeks of the school year. After the first few years where the rehearsal times, costume changes, and how to get perfect curls or put mascara on a squirming 6 year old stressed me out, I now just LOVE seeing my kids on the big stage and this year had to have been our best year yet. (Little brag - I FINALLY pulled off perfect curls on Teagan this year! It only took 5 years of trying!)
Both Teagan and Caden knew their routines cold and got to dance to fun and exciting music with really sweet costumes.
And, as an aside, none of this would have been possible without some serious logistical help from both my dad and my friend Maria to get us through the rehearsals and some insane flexibility from Brian (whose schedule is so inflexible of late) so if you're reading, THANK YOU.
And of course the Monday after dance recital weekend is when the schedule is posted for fall and the children beg and plead for $3000 worth of dance classes and I have to talk them down into the realm of possibility. Tomorrow I'll register Teagan for ballet, tap, jazz and (new this year) musical theatre and Caden is desperate to try acro. I had to nix hip hop and acro for Teagan and tap again for Caden to try and make the schedule and cost something everyone could live with. They are thrilled - I am beginning to think it's all a ploy to ask for 10 classes so I'll agree to 5!!!
Here are my favorite dancers with their favorite friends showing off their fabulous costumes.
