Nutcracker

This year, Caden had the opportunity to dance with a professional ballet in 3 of their performances of the Nutcracker. Ballet Jorgen puts on a Canadian version each year with bears, squirrels, snowshoes, and woodsmen and backdrops inspired by the Group of 7 and they allow children to participate on a local and touring level based on their age and skill.

Caden, this year, as the youngest local participant in our area, was a bear cub. His part was very small (and very cute) but the opportunity to work with men and women in a full-length show was phenomenal for him! He also got to work with 2 teen boys who share the role of the Nutcracker Prince who were incredibly kind to him.

It involved a lot of rehearsal time but he loved every second of it! I sat through all the dress and technical rehearsals and had a lot of fun getting to watch the show come together!

Here he is with the prince, Klara, and the sock bunny after his last show:

And with the girls from our dance studio who participated also (2 squirrels and a dragon fly):

And with 2 of the company dancers including Daniel, who played the lead (Lord Birch):

He can hardly wait to audition again next year!
