Insult to injury!

So this week has been a barrel of laughs. Not!

Brian has worked more than one 20+ hour day including Monday (my birthday) where he made it home for a late dinner and half a movie before getting called back and Wednesday too.

Monday night, Caden threw up twice overnight and had the runs Tuesday but was back to his old self by noon. Since Wednesday passed uneventfully, I thought we were in the clear. I was wrong.

Thursday we had friends over to play. We went to the park and we moms were standing chatting about being overprotective and trying to learn to let go. Right at that moment (oh the irony) Duncan walked right into a branch, eye first, scratching his cornea. *sigh*

So we get home and I'm trying to ascertain the damage when he starts throwing up! Repeatedly!

I called Telehealth who suggested we go to the ER to get his eye looked at. Too bad he was still vomitting every 20 minutes (unrelated to the eye injury). We were there until 1 AM. Fun times.

Really though the important thing is that his eye will be just fine (and is 1000 times better today already) and after some anti-nausea meds last night (the only up-side of being in the ER when he'd been vomitting continuously for 8 hours and was getting dehydrated), he's perking up significantly although he's still nauseous.

Today, Teagan says she feels sick. Figures. We've cancelled all our weekend plans and will hunker down until everyone is well again. Oh, the joy.

And I am grousing but I'm really NOT complaining. This is all "minor" stuff in the grand scheme of things and the kids have been great, work has been good, the house is clean, and my friends have been taking good care of me so don't think I'm feeling all that "woe is me" because I'm not... I'm just impressed by the coincidence and irony of it all.

In good news, Duncan has been dry day and night with no accidents since Sunday so I will cautiously declare him completely potty trained. That wasn't so bad!

Teagan's cursive writing, which she's been working on, is coming along really nicely, I'm impressed!

Caden has the best imagination ever if the games involve bad guys, sneaky traps, or world domination and he has some pretty insanely good reading skills too!
