Archaeology day

We had a wonderful day up at Crawford lake, learning about the Iroquois tribe that used to live there and how the archaeologists (most of them have been digging there every summer since the 1970s!) have learned so much. We even learned about tiny water creatures whose remains are found in core samples of the lake bottom and what they tell us about fish and crops in the area over time.

We also got to do our own sample dig (Teagan found a moose's jaw!).

And make our own tiny clay bowls.

And grind corn!
