The dog-eating tomato!

The other day, I picked Duncan up at preschool. He was colouring very happily so I waited a minute to let him finish. When he ran to me with his page full of squiggles and sun-like happy faces I asked him to tell me what he drew. He says "Mom, I was supposed to draw for "W" words. I drew thunder, lightening, and a tomato. This one is.... ummm.... another tomato."

Assuming there WAS logic in all of this I asked for more details as I buckled him into the car. He began explaining that tomatoes can suck up rain, lightening, and also caterpillars and dogs. I was trying very hard not to let him hear me laughing as we drove.

Then from the back seat comes "Mom, we'd better get Bailey a force shield so he won't be sucked up by the tomato!".

I couldn't help it, I howled.

He repeated the story to everyone who would listen.

The next morning I asked his teacher to clarify what he was supposed to be drawing. As it turns out, the "w" word was weather and he was drawing 4 different kinds of weather. And the tomato? A misheard tornado!

Aaaaaah.

Personally, I'm a fan of the dog-eating tomato. In his picture it had a nice sunny smile. I'd show you, but a certain dog ate it.
